Reminder… Proper and Regular Blood Pressure Monitoring

Why is regular blood pressure monitoring important?

High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a common modern-day condition.
More than 40% of adults in Serbia suffer from it. We move less, often eat improperly, and are exposed to daily stress…

Numerous studies show that regular blood pressure monitoring contributes to better regulation, improved diet, increased physical activity, and consistent use of prescribed therapy.

What is the correct way to measure blood pressure?

Whether you already have hypertension or simply want to check your blood pressure, proper measurement is essential.

Before measuring:

• Do not eat or drink anything 30 minutes before
• Empty your bladder
• Sit in a comfortable chair with back support and rest for at least 5 minutes

During measurement:

• Place both feet flat on the floor (do not cross your legs)
• Rest the arm with the cuff on a table at heart level
• Ensure the cuff is snug but not too tight
• Place the cuff directly on the skin, not over clothing
• Do not talk while the measurement is being taken

After measuring:

• Measure at the same time every day
• Take at least two readings, 1–2 minutes apart
• Record your results regularly for monitoring
